Keokuk Area Medical Equipment and KAME Pharmacy offer a free billing service for Medicare, Medicaid, and private insurance patients. Our experienced billing personnel work with you and your physician to help get your claim paid. If you have more than one insurance, we will file a claim with your secondary insurance provider. We will do our best to minimize our patients' out of pocket expense.

          Our billing staff keep up to date with the latest Medicare and Medicaid changes. We all know nothing stays the same. Here at KAME, we make it our job to educate our patients and their physicians when regulations change.

          Our billing staff is available Monday through Friday from 8:00 to 5:30 for your billing questions and information you may need.

Frequently Asked Questions

What do the terms "assigned" and "non-assigned" mean regarding Medicare coverage?

          The term "assigned" means that we accept the amount that Medicare pays for goods or services and KAME absorbs the difference between our retail price and the amount Medicare pays. The term "non-assigned" means that the patient pays KAME for goods or services. KAME then files a claim with Medicare, and Medicare reimburses the patient directly. The patient may not be reimbursed for the full amount they paid.

Do I initiate the paperwork necessary for Medicare coverage?

          All you need to provide is an initial prescription. Then KAME sends the Certificate of Medical Necessity (CMN) or a physician's order to the physician. After the physician completes the form and signs it, KAME sends it to Medicare for reimbursement.
